2 weeks Special program
Volunteering Solutions provides a thrilling opportunity to do a 2 weeks volunteer trip along with weekend excursions for the volunteers with a combination of volunteer programs and weekend excursions to Machu Picchu and tour to one of the most historic and cultural sites in Cusco.
This program is particularly convenient for volunteers who do not have time to commit to a month or more of volunteering abroad but would like to make some contribution and also travel along with other volunteers on the weekends to one of the most spectacular places in Peru.
Volunteer Program Schedule
Duration: 2 weeks
Dates: 1st and 3rd Sunday of the month
Project: Intercultural Projects
Working Days: Monday – Friday – 5 days a week, 4-6 hours in a day
Weekends: Travel / Sightseeing included in the cost
Program Availability - Program is not available from the first of April till first week of May and first week of December till the first week of January
Day 1 Sunday: Cusco airport pick up and transfer to local host families to unpack and rest.
Day 2 Monday: Orientation
Participants will receive the orientation at the Volunteering Solutions office early in the morning and they have the rest of the day to explore the city on their own.
Days 3 – 11: Intercultural projects
Our Social projects seeks to contribute to the development of the poorest families in our population, principally in poor rural areas and marginalized urban areas in order for them to attain integral human development, which translates into better living conditions in harmony with nature. Volunteers will be working in rural nursery schools where there is just 1 teacher for 30 little kids aged between 3 and 5 years old. During those two weeks participants will be helping four hours daily from Monday to Friday. They will provide care, love and attention for these children as well as assisting the Peruvian staff at the projects.
Day 6 – 7 Weekend – Saturday & Sunday: Free day for the participants to explore Cusco by themselves.
This day they will have the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Cusco by themselves. Participants will need to get the Cusco Visitors Ticket at the Local Government office to visit museums, cultural centers, small ruins, and Cusco festivities (festivals are moveable).
Day 12 Thursday: Sacred Valley tour connection to Aguas Calientes
Discover the Sacred valley of the Incas - go on a guided tour to visit the beauty of Pisaq, Ollantaytambo ruins, and small towns around followed a lunch in a traditional Inca restaurant. Then take the Train at Ollantaytambo to overnight in Aguas Calientes town to visit Machu Picchu Sanctuary the next day.
Day 13 Friday: Full day Tour in Machu Picchu
"Machu Picchu is a trip to the serenity of the soul, to the eternal fusion with the cosmos; where we feel our fragility. It is one of the greatest marvels of South America. A resting place of butterflies in the epicenter of the great circle of life.
Early in the morning, participants will depart from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu sanctuary by a 15 minutes bus drive; the guided tour will guide them for 2 hours at the Sanctuary. Then they will be free to explore Machu Picchu on their own and come back in Cusco around midnight.
Day 14 Saturday: Goodbye Cusco
Participants can spend their last day saying good bye to Cusco and shopping or continue travelling around Peru. This is their last morning at the home stay.
