WHAT IS THE STAFF ACCOMMODATION LIKE?
Sydney's population is set to top five million in the next year, after the city gained a record 84,230 people in 2013-14.
With Sydney being such a popular destination for immigrants, tourists and backpackers alike, accommodation is always a problem.
Problems backpackers face with finding accommodation:
Immigrants account for a considerable percentage of the city’s annual population growth. According to the 2011 census, 40% of all residents in the Sydney Metropolitan Area were born abroad. On the other hand, this huge influx of often highly skilled and well-to-do migrants did not only help make Sydney into one of the richest cities in the world, it also sent up property and rental prices. This makes finding reasonable rental accommodation a problem for anyone arriving in Sydney.
The Working Holiday Club has three types of accommodation available to our members who have decided to live & work in Sydney.
- Hostel (private rooms to four people – ten person shared dorms)
- Shared Apartments (fully furnished apartments with WiFi and television)
- Subsidised shared accommodation (including all bills)
Through our portfolio of partnerships, we can offer these choices. Normally, we recommend a short hostel stay while, together with our accommodation partners, you view and select a shared apartment that suits you and your needs.
